My Story: A Personal Account of Depression, Suicide and Recovery

November 9, 2022 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Community Care Behavioral Health presents:

This training will be a personal account of depression, suicide and recovery. Often, when learning or hearing about mental health conditions and suicide, the conversation tends to stay clinical and sterile. We discuss symptoms and causes, cite percentages and statistics, and discuss mental health conditions as if they are some distant, but observable curiosity. Every person diagnosed with a mental health condition is just that: a person. They have loved ones and friends, hopes and aspirations, successes and failures. They, like you, have their own story to tell. What can we learn from these stories? What insights can first-hand experience provide us? What practical things can be done to prevent a mental health crisis? This presentation will show how one person’s story can help answer those questions. Specifically, participants will: -Identify suicide warning signs, risks, and protective factors -Explain the time lapse of suicide symptoms and obtaining effective treatment -Identify possible effective recovery treatments.
